Airsoft guns are highly upgradeable, and although most guns perform well out of the box, upgrades can improve performance by huge margins. There are tons of different ways to upgrade your airsoft gun and increase its performance.

One of the most common questions asked about an airsoft gun is: “How fast does it shoot?” Buying a more powerful spring can increase the velocity greatly. When buying a more powerful spring, you have to be careful to upgrade the rest of the internal systems or else the higher force may cause an expensive malfunction.

Another common upgrade is a smaller diameter barrel. This can provide a significant impact on accuracy when using quality pellets. The downside of this upgrade is that using very poor quality pellets can result in jammed shots or even damage to the barrel.

No upgrade can increase the maximum rate of fire as much as buying a more powerful battery. This can be a difficult upgrade to buy because even the best airsoft guns can have a difficult time handling the power of a 12 volt battery. Like the upgrading your spring before, this upgrade requires upgraded internal parts to handle the extra power or else you will end up with expensive difficulties later. As well as upgrading the battery power, you can also buy a larger capacity battery to increase the amount of shots you can fire without charging your gun.

Although upgrades that upgrade the performance of your airsoft gun are very important, one frequently overlooked upgrade is the gun sight. Many airsoft guns include rails which can be used to mount gun sights, flashlights, slings, extra grips, or whatever else you may want to attach. A good red dot sight can dramatically improve first shot accuracy.
